The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has promoted three senior Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officers to higher ranks.
Major General Francis Okello, the outgoing Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), has been promoted to Lieutenant General.
General Okello is set to retire in July 2025.
Colonel Geoffrey Karugaba, Uganda’s Defence Attaché to the United Kingdom, has been elevated to the rank of Brigadier General.
Additionally, former UPDF spokesperson Col Paddy Ankunda has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
General Ankunda currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security in Charge of International Affairs.
