President Yoweri Museveni this afternoon officially launched Busega Market, located in Rubaga Division, Kampala.

The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady, said the new facility provides traders with a safe, clean, and organised space to operate from, which is far better than selling on the roadside, where they face losses, especially during bad weather.

"The message of the NRM is clear: we must work to create wealth. Whether you are an owner or a worker, everyone should be engaged. Idleness is not acceptable," he said. "I was encouraged to see that the people of Busega are focusing on services such as trading, vending, and small shops. That is valuable work."

The market, which opened for business in November 2024, can accommodate over 4,000 vendors.

The President is also on the Parish Development Model (PDM) assessment tour of Kampala, which is the final leg of the PDM tour.
