NRM Primaries: Here Are Parliamentary Seat Winners So Far

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has today held primary elections for Members of Parliament across the country.

Police said voting remained largely calm in major urban centres including Kampala City, Wakiso, Mbale, Mbarara and Soroti.

Some constituencies have already announced winners. Among the winners are Daudi Kabanda, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General who retained Kasambya County seat and Micheal Mawanda, the PLU Director of Mobilisation, who returned as Igara East MP.

Phiona Nyamutoro won the Nebbi Woman MP seat. Thomas Tayebwa emerged victorious as MP for Ruhinda North County in Mitooma District.

Anita Among retained her seat as Woman MP for Bukedea District, while Matia Kasaija won for Buyanja County in Kibaale District.

Jim Muhwezi secured the Rujumbura County seat in Rukungiri District. Molly Kamukama was elected Woman MP for Kazo District, and Moses Ali won in East Moyo County in Adjumani District.

Iddi Bassajja won the Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality seat, and Annet Katusiime Mugisha was declared winner for Woman MP, Bushenyi District.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja retained her position as Woman MP for Kakumiro District, while Sylvia Alinaitwe won for Rukiga County.

Jane Frances Acilo was elected Woman MP for Oyam District, and Gen Henry Tumukunde won the Rukungiri Municipality seat.

Moses Balyeku secured the Jinja West seat. Joseph Mugenyi emerged victorious in Burahya County, Kabarole.

Frank Tumwebaze won in Kibale East, Jackson Kafuuzi in Kyaka South, and Ephraim Kamuntu in Sheema South.

Sylia Katooko Damba was elected Kibuku Woman MP, and Edson Rugumayo won the Ntoroko County seat.

Mbaziira Richard secured the MP seat for Jinja South East, while Faridah Nambi won for Kawempe North.

Micheal Mawanda was elected for Igara East, and Steven Shyaka Gashaija won the Entebbe Municipality seat.

Rebecca Kyarampe Namanya emerged victorious in Mitooma District, while Elioda Tumwesigye secured the Sheema North MP seat.

Dickson Kateshumbwa won in Sheema Municipality, and Adrine Mwebesa was elected Woman MP for Sheema.

Arthur Kazoora emerged victorious in Ruhinda South. Dennis Namara won the Buyaga West seat, and Jessica Alupo retained her seat as Katakwi District Woman MP.

Counsel Cohen Kyampene secured the Igara West seat, while Rebecca Kadaga won as Kamuli District Woman MP.

Annet Nabirye emerged victorious in Luuka District as Woman MP, and Alex Bob Rugonde won the Rubabo seat.

Sam Engola won in Erute South, and Hamson Obua secured the Ajuri County seat. Okot Boniface Henry was elected MP for Kole South.

In the Kigezi sub-region, Rukiga County was won by Kiconco Patrick Katabazi, Rubanda West by Kamuntu Moses Mwongyera, and Rubanda East by Henry Musasizi Aliganyira. Leo Mfitimana secured Kisoro Municipality, Habyara Fortunate Gatare won in Bufumbira North, and Kwizera Edie Wagahungu triumphed in Bukimbiri County. James Nsababuturo won Bufumbira East, while Alex Seruganda Niyonsaba secured Bufumbira South. Kabale Municipality was won by Byamungu Micheal Turyamureba, Ndorwa West by Bahati David, and Ndorwa East by Elvis Twenda.

Jim Muhwezi Katugugu won again in Rujumbura, and Tumukunde Henry was declared winner for Rukungiri Municipality. Mathius Rwabugumi secured Rubabo County, Ndungutse John Ngaruye won Kinkizi West, and Baromyunsi Chris triumphed in Kinkizi East.

Hajji Ojasi Swaibu emerged victorious in Iganga Municipality. Ssempijja Vincent Bamulangaki secured the MP seat for Kalungu East, and Minsa Kabanda won in Kampala Central.
