The police in Entebbe are investigating a devastating fire that resulted in the deaths of three young girls in Mpala Cell, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District, on August 15, 2025.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the victims have been identified as 12-year-old Namiru Ellah, 5-year-old Amani Namulema, and 3-year-old Namujju Tamale.

Initial reports suggest that their mother, Julie Nalubwama, left the children unattended while their father, Lenon Kavuma, was away in Jinja for work. The fire broke out at approximately 1:00 am, and the local LC1 chairperson alerted the police.

The Fire and Rescue Services responded swiftly, managing to extinguish the blaze. Two bodies were discovered outside the house, while the third was found inside, burnt beyond recognition.

The authorities have documented the scene, taken witness statements, and transported the bodies to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, as confirmed by the police spokesperson.
