The Special Forces Command (SFC) has flagged off its Rangers and football team ahead of the 17th edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Cup, set to run from August 26 to September 5, 2025, in Masaka.
The annual tournament, hosted this year by the Armoured Division, will feature more than 20 teams drawn from across the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF). Competitions will include football, netball, range shooting, and other sporting activities.
During the flag-off ceremony at VVIPTS-Sera Kasenyi, SFC Commander Maj Gen David Mugisha urged his troops to demonstrate discipline throughout the games. He reminded them of SFC’s winning record and challenged them to maintain the unit’s reputation.
“SFC has always performed well in these competitions. I encourage you to uphold discipline and work hard to sustain that legacy,” Maj Gen Mugisha said.
Brig Gen John Bosco Asinguza, Commander of the 1 Special Forces Group, called on the teams to display professionalism, unity, and courage. “SFC is expected to lead by example among the competing formations,” he noted.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff-SFC, Brig Gen Paula Namawa, senior officers, and other members of the command.
