President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Lino Anguzu as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), replacing Justice Jane Frances Abodo, who was recently named Principal Judge.
A statement issued by Presidential Press Secretary Sandor Walusimbi confirmed that the President has forwarded Anguzu’s name to Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting and approval.
Before his appointment, Anguzu served as Assistant DPP, where he played a key role in supervising state attorneys and overseeing complex criminal cases across the country.
Upon parliamentary approval, Anguzu will take over leadership of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, which is responsible for directing, controlling, and supervising criminal prosecutions on behalf of the state.
His appointment marks a significant transition in the country’s prosecution service as the government continues to strengthen the justice system to ensure efficiency, fairness and accountability in criminal proceedings.
