The Uganda People’s Defence Forces has honoured the late retired Major General Christopher Kazoora during his burial at his ancestral home in Nakaseke District, praising him as a disciplined officer who served the country with integrity and dedication.
The Chief of Defence Forces and Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, described Maj Gen Kazoora as a committed patriot whose military career was defined by professionalism and selfless service.
His tribute was delivered by Lt Gen Sam Kavuma, the Force Commander of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia, during the burial ceremony held in Luwama Village, Kinyogoga Parish.
“General Kazoora devoted his life to defending this nation. We are grateful for his courage, commitment, and selfless contribution to the service of Uganda,” the tribute read.
Maj Gen Kazoora died on January 9, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital, ending a military career that spanned several decades. He first joined the struggle on May 26, 1979, when he enlisted with FRONASA before later becoming part of the National Resistance Army.
During his service, he held several command and administrative positions and played a key role in strengthening professionalism within the UPDF.
In an emotional address, his widow, Catherine Nyambuhoro Kazoora, described him as a loving and supportive husband throughout their 38 years of marriage.
“He loved and cared for me deeply and stood by me in every way. I am deeply heartbroken and unsure how life will continue without him,” she said.
She thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the support extended to the family during her husband’s illness and expressed appreciation to UPDF leadership and officers for standing with them during the mourning period.
Senior UPDF commanders, government officials, religious leaders, relatives, and friends attended the burial ceremony, paying tribute to a soldier remembered for his discipline, loyalty, and service to the nation.
