President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hosted the leadership of MTN Uganda at State House Entebbe to discuss how telecommunications and digital finance can accelerate national development.

The delegation was led by board chairman Charles Mbire, chief executive officer Sylvia Mulinge, and general manager for corporate services Enid Edroma.

Their meeting examined the sector’s growing influence in driving socio-economic transformation, stimulating innovation and strengthening service delivery across the country.

The discussions emphasized the expanding importance of digital connectivity and fintech platforms in widening access to financial services, improving efficiency in government programmes and enabling participation in the money economy at community level.

President Museveni commended MTN Uganda for sustained investment and for supporting Uganda’s transformation agenda through telecom infrastructure and digital financial services.

He welcomed what he described as effective use of technology to advance inclusion and reiterated government support for initiatives that deepen innovation and nationwide connectivity.

The MTN delegation, in turn, praised the government for maintaining an environment that allows private sector players to expand operations and contribute to development.
