The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has stepped up efforts to strengthen its engagement with cultural institutions as part of a broader push to deepen grassroots mobilisation and community participation.
The initiative was highlighted during a meeting between PLU Secretary General Hon. Twalla Fadil and His Royal Highness Raphael Otaya, Won Ateker Papa me Kumam, and His Royal Highness Isabaruuli Isabarongo Mwogezi Constantine Butamanya.
The cultural leaders paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Twalla Fadil’s office, where they discussed ways to use traditional leadership structures to promote grassroots organisation, unity, social cohesion and community engagement.
The meeting also brought together Coach Gad Eteu, PLU USA Chapter Vice Chairman, who is in line to be appointed Diaspora Foreign Affairs Envoy to the King of Kumam; Hon. Isaac Arwei, PLU Kalaki District Coordinator; and Mr. Steven Rutasharara, PLU Commissioner for External Affairs.
The discussions also focused on preserving Uganda’s cultural values through stronger diaspora engagement.
The participants stressed the need to keep Ugandans living abroad connected to cultural activities and initiatives in their communities back home.
Hon. Twalla Fadil reaffirmed the commitment of PLU Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to strengthening relations with Uganda’s established cultural institutions.
He said cultural institutions have an important role in preserving Uganda’s heritage, promoting national unity and shaping the country’s cultural identity.
The engagement is expected to strengthen cooperation between PLU, cultural institutions, local communities and Ugandans in the diaspora.
The discussions also placed emphasis on using these partnerships to advance cultural pride, social cohesion and grassroots development.
