Former vice president Professor Gilbert Bukenya and businessman Sudhir Ruparelia are among 118 people that have been assigned Patriotic Officer (PO) numbers by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).
PLU General Secretary Fadil Twalla announced the appointments in a statement released on Friday, September 11.
Prof Bukenya was assigned PO/300, while Ruparelia received PO/198. The list also includes several government officials, lawmakers, business leaders and professionals. Among those appointed are ministers Amos Lugoloobi, Sarah Nakawuki, Musa Ecweru and Faith Mercy Lakisa.
Other recipients are Godfrey Kirumira, Molly Kamukama, Dr Keefa Kiwanuka, Yorke Odria Alioni, John Bosco Kariisa, Peninah Busingye, Lillian Ruteraho, Dedan Musinguzi, Ruth Rujoki Mushabe, Beatrice Wembabazi, Allan Atugonza, Stephen Kisa Bakubalwayo and Catherine Lamwaka.
The list also features Prophet Vincent Museveni, Hajjat Madina Naham, Salim Uhuru, John Kyaligonza, Abdul Barekye, Dan Nimwesiga, Didas Tabaro, Bonny Tashobya and Twesigye Wycliffe, Lt Col Moses Mushabe, Dr Hatwib Mungasa, Dr Grace Bikumbi, John Karuhanga, Jackson Tumusiime, Godfrey Bamwenda, Moris Muhindo, Eric Muhangi, Judith Mukiidi, Joshua Okongo Ochom and Fauzia Sumaiah Ali.
There is also Evarist Asiimwe, Charles Cherukut, Felix Kaihura, Ahmed Kayira, Uthman Kateregga, Dennis Maloba, Justine Mbabazi, Paul Mukoome, Ronnie Kananura, Faridah Nakalawa, Norah Ssendawula and Joseph Tamale Jr., Rogers Wanutanda, Aidah Wanyana, Abdul Malik Keberu, Samuel Odong, Harriet Ojakol, Eng Okanya Boniface, Evelyn Chemutai Chekwober, Nelson Mungasa, Matthew Kabbich, Joshua Mbonye, Emmanuel Oyite, Rebecca Adie Moro, Christopher Olum Ocen and Peter Opio Lugai.
The new officers were assigned numbers ranging from PO/183 to PO/300. Twalla congratulated the appointees and urged them to serve with “diligence, loyalty and unwavering commitment” to PLU and Uganda.
