Former Uganda Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic bounced back and signed a three-year contract, Uganda's football body Fufa has announced.

The 51-year-old, who left the Cranes job after the 2017 Afcon finals following a payment dispute, officially starts his new job August 1 according to his new contract.

"The head coach has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff," said Fufa on their official Twitter handle.

According to Fufa, Micho will address the media next Tuesday before embarking on his first challenge in his term of taking the national team to the World Cup.

Uganda is in the same group with neighbours Kenya, Rwanda and Mali for the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers that kick off in September.

Since leaving the Cranes job in 2017, Micho has coached the Zambian national team, South African club Orlando Pirates and Egypt's Zamalek.

Micho is fondly remembered in Uganda for ending the country's almost four-decade absence from the Nations Cup with that Gabon appearance.
