Ugandan football fans will attend the CHAN 2024 third-place playoff free of charge after the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) announced that it had secured all 28,000 tickets for the game between Sudan and Senegal at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The announcement was made on Thursday during a press briefing at the Uganda Media Centre. The LOC revealed that it had purchased the entire ticket allocation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a gesture of gratitude to supporters who have filled stadiums and shown passion throughout the tournament.

“This is the way the LOC, under the leadership of Maama Janet Museveni, is saying ‘thank you’ to all football fans who have made our homeland proud during this co-hosting of CHAN 2024. Your energy and passion have made the experience both memorable and successful,” the LOC communication team stated.

Ticket Access

Fans will access their free tickets exclusively via CAF’s official ticketing website. After registering their details, they will enter the promo code CHAN3RD to claim up to three tickets per person.

All tickets will be stamped “NOT FOR SALE” while carrying CAF’s official security features. The LOC cautioned fans against buying tickets from unauthorized sources and emphasized that only the CAF portal is valid.

CAF confirmed that supporters who had already purchased tickets will be contacted directly to make alternative arrangements.

Beyond Football

The Friday fixture will offer more than a contest for third place. The LOC promised a cultural showcase featuring live performances by Ugandan music stars Jose Chameleone, John Blaq, Elijah Kitaka, and Vinka. Entertainment will start at 5:00 p.m., one hour before kick-off, and continue after the final whistle and medal ceremony.
