Kyarisiima Israel has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Uganda Esports Federation (UEF), in a move that places a young Ugandan leader at the centre of efforts to strengthen the country’s growing esports industry.
According to an appointment letter issued by the Office of the President of the Uganda Esports Federation on 14 September 2026, Kyarisiima was appointed to serve as the Federation’s Chief Executive Officer, effective the same date.
The appointment, according to the Federation, is in recognition of his leadership capabilities and professional experience, with the CEO position expected to provide strategic and administrative leadership to the organisation.
A new chapter for Uganda’s esports sector
Esports has increasingly become part of the global sports and entertainment ecosystem, creating opportunities for young people in competitive gaming, digital content, technology, broadcasting, events, sponsorship and entrepreneurship.
Kyarisiima’s appointment comes at a time when Uganda’s young population is increasingly engaging with digital platforms and gaming, creating potential for esports to develop into a structured industry with opportunities extending beyond competition itself.
As CEO, Kyarisiima is expected to contribute to the development of the Federation’s organisational structures and programmes while working with stakeholders to advance esports in Uganda.
From youth mobilisation to digital sports leadership
Kyarisiima is known for his work in youth mobilisation and organising, particularly through initiatives focused on engaging young people around leadership, technology, entrepreneurship and Pan African ideas.
His transition into esports leadership adds another dimension to his work with young people, particularly at a time when digital culture is becoming an increasingly important part of youth engagement.
