The government has released UGX 529 billion to capitalise Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs for the 2025/26 financial year. This is one of the largest injections of parish-level funding since the programme began.
Finance Minister Matia Kasaija announced the release on Tuesday and confirmed that all 10,589 verified PDM SACCOs will start receiving UGX 50 million each beginning Wednesday. The money will be deposited directly into their respective SACCO accounts.
Under the PDM funding structure, government releases money in two equal tranches every six months. Each SACCO receives UGX 50 million per tranche.
Kasaija said the latest disbursement shows that the programme is firmly taking root. “The Parish Development Model is no longer a theory. It is a reality. It is in your parishes. It is in your households. PDM is growing bigger, stronger and more impactful,” he said at the Ministry of Finance.
According to the ministry, government has so far transferred UGX 3.216 trillion directly to parishes since the PDM rollout. Each of the 10,589 parishes has now received at least UGX 300 million.
The ministry also reported that 99% of all funds released to date have reached 3.27 million beneficiaries across the country.
Government expects to release the second tranche of PDM funds later in the financial year.
