Air Arabia, an Emirati low-cost airline, will commence flights to Entebbe International Airport, starting next month, October 10.

The airline’s G9721 flight, according to reports, will leave Sharjah International Airport for Entebbe thrice a week (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday).

Air Arabia currently flies passengers to over 170 destinations across the world in its fleet of 52 Airbus A320 and 4 A321 Neo LR aircraft.

The company’s website is already allowing people to book flights.

12,000 Ugandans leave for the Middle East annually in search of employment, according to the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development released in June.

According to the Bank of Uganda, out of $1.21 billion earned by Uganda in remittances, more than half came from the Middle East.

Uganda’s exports to the Middle East reached $1.9bn last year, and the Middle East was Uganda’s top destination for merchandise exports in May 2021, accounting for 42.7 percent of total exports, according to the finance ministry.
