The majestic long-horned Ankore cows are the unexpected stars of a high-level meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The buzz began when Prime Modi posted a photo from their meeting at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

While the leaders were there to discuss the India-South Africa partnership, it was the art on the wall that stole the show.

Looming large in the conference hall was a wall hanging featuring the iconic Ankore cattle, their sweeping horns creating an unforgettable scene.

The image quickly went viral, captivating social media users who were drawn to the animal's striking and regal presence.

The conversation has quickly shifted from diplomacy to agriculture and tourism, with many suggesting that the Ankore cow should be marketed as a premier tourist attraction for Uganda.

This isn't the first time President Ramaphosa has shown admiration for the breed. His fascination with Ankore cows began after a visit to Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni. So taken by their beauty and resilience, Ramaphosa decided to introduce a herd to his own farm in South Africa.

It seems the President's personal appreciation for the breed has now, quite literally, placed them on the global stage, proving that sometimes a powerful symbol can speak as loudly as the talks happening right beneath it.

The photographer who took the Ankore cow’s photo was quick to express his happiness about his work.

“I am very proud to have my work exhibited at the G20 in the presence of the President and other world leaders. It is an amazing honor to share my work and passion for the Ankole breed with the world. Photo was taken in Mbarara, Uganda,” Dainel Naudé said in a post on X
