Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has called on student leaders to prioritize patriotism and embrace responsible living to shape Uganda's future.

Addressing over 800 student leaders from higher institutions of learning undergoing patriotism training at Nkumba University, Nabbanja emphasized the significance of national pride. “As Ugandans, we don’t have a second home. Even those with foreign citizenship are identified by their Ugandan origin,” she stated.

The training, organized by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC), aims to instill values of patriotism and leadership. Nabbanja urged the students to act as ambassadors of patriotism in their institutions. “Defend, serve, and love Uganda. Even in small roles, serve proudly and passionately because you are serving your country,” she said.

Highlighting Uganda’s rich natural resources and favorable climate, Nabbanja credited President Yoweri Museveni’s leadership for fostering stability. She also urged young leaders to live with integrity, accountability, and selflessness.

“This is the best course you will ever study. Understanding patriotism, Pan-Africanism, democracy, and socio-economic transformation ensures you never go wrong,” Nabbanja remarked.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of personal responsibility and health, warning against the risks of HIV/AIDS. “Plan your lives well. If I had not lived consciously, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” she advised.

NSPC Commissioner Hellen Seku noted that the training, which began on January 3, 2025, equips student leaders with the skills to promote civic responsibility and national unity. “The program encourages young leaders to actively participate in building a better Uganda,” Seku said.

President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni are expected to officiate the program’s closing ceremony on January 17, 2025.
