At least 30 People Injured in Suspected Twin Bomb Blasts in Kampala

At least 30 people have been injured in the two bomb blasts in Kampala City.

The first blast was reported at Kooki Towers, opposite Kampala Central Police Station at 10.03am while another heavy blast was reported three minutes later at Parliamentary Avenue outside Raja Chambers.

Parliamentary Avenue is home to several government institutions including Parliament of Uganda, the Office of the  Inspector General of Government (IGG), Ministry of ICT, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Lands, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

According to the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, at least 24 casualties are receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital with 4 in a critical condition.

The number of fatalities is at six, including three suicide bombers according to the Police.

Of late, there have been a series of improvised bomb attacks in the country. Last month, a bomb exploded at a popular joint in Komamboga, killing one and injuring at least three people. The Islamic State (IS) later claimed responsibility.
