The Police in Mukono are investigating the kidnap and murder of a 28 year old woman together with her driver.

Maria Nakirinya Gateni, the Assistant Project Manager CIDI, an NGO based in Muyenga, Kampala was on Thursday night kidnapped together with her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the two while driving a Spacio Reg.No.UBA 570V, were kidnapped by unknown people from Nakirinya’s house gate in Lungujja, Busega Community Zone.

The two were then driven away in that same car. The kidnap happened at around 11:30pm. Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says the car was later found abandoned in Natete. “Her car was abandoned at Natete. We located the vehicle and preserved it for scene processing today (Friday),” Onyango said in a statement.

He explained that when police checked the abandoned vehicle, they found Nakirinya’s national ID card, her shoes, Kitayimbwa’s driving permit and blood stains in the car seats. “Today 30/8/2019, police in Mukono got information that there are two dead bodies found in Nakitutuli ku Ssatu, Nama Subcounty. The relatives have positively identified the bodies and confirmed that they are the two people we have been looking for,” the police said.

One suspect has been arrested to help police investigation of a case of double murder. The suspect’s identity has been concealed by police to protect the investigation. Early last year another  young woman, Susan Magara was kidnapped from the same area, Lungujja and later murdered by her captors.
