Restytuta Ayebare was crowned Miss Tourism Ankole at an event held on Saturday night at Las Vegas Hotel in Mbarara. She beat Sharidah Kulabako and Hopekins Ainomujuni who emerged first and second runner-up respectively.

Restytuta Ayebare and her colleagues will be the 2023 tourism ambassadors for the region. Organisers said they are now set for boot camp late this year as they prepare for the final prize and the title of Miss Tourism 2013/2024.

The creative wear session showed that the contestants took time to obtain local products like sisal, and bark cloth to make the pieces. Masiela Fashion House designed the dresses made mainly out of African fabric and the judges got a glimpse of the contestants’ evening wear look. The weekend also saw Northern Uganda crowning its  Miss Tourism Queens 2023/24 representatives.

Pamela Acaa was crowned as the queen of the Miss Tourism Northern beauty pageant. Genevieve Okello and Juliet Angelo emerged as the first and second runners up respectively. The crowned Queens will represent their different districts come September 9 at Kampala Serena Hotel Under the theme “Greening Tourism”. Regional selections are still underway.
