Former Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura has lost his mother, Catherine Mukarwamo.

She was 92.

According to reports, Mukarwamo had been battling pneumonia which she succumbed to on Thursday morning.

Tentative burial arrangements indicate she’ll be buried on Sunday, the New Vision reported.

Catherine Mukarwamo married Kayihura’s father, John Komuluyange Kalekezi, one of the Ugandans who fought for the African Great Lakes nation’s independence, which occurred on 9 October 1962.

He died in an airplane crash in Kiev, Ukraine on 17 August 1960. She will be buried at her ancestral home in Kisoro district.
