The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has told the people of Busoga Sub-region that if Uganda didn’t have a strong security system, Bobi Wine’s people would have done great damage during the riots last month.
Sporadic riots erupted in Kampala and other urban towns following the arrest of Bobi Wine for continuous flouting of campaign guidelines aimed at stemming the further spread of COVID-19.
Museveni said that some of Bobi Wine's supporters had even promised to burn the city down and they tried but they got medicine.
“They had promised to burn the city down, they tried but they got the medicine and I can tell you now, they know,” Museveni said.

Museveni added, “So the other day this Bobi Wine was trying to make drama to go to the EC, he went alone because they know. He was doing that hoping that he will get groups to help him do damage. But all the bad people had got the message that (wano wafila muloge). But if we didn’t have a strong security system they would have done some great damage.”
Museveni further told the people of Busoga especially the youth that there are opportunities available in the region, in the sectors of Industry, agriculture, ICTs and services among others, and they should utilise them.

He added that NRM has improved and built the infrastructural base for these opportunities to thrive and is committed to translating the economic growth and development so far registered into more jobs and wealth for all Ugandans.
“This is the NRM’s core mission and with the infrastructure already in place, we will enable more Ugandans join the money economy and improve household income,” he said.
No One Should Threaten Ugandans
Following his nomination last month President Yoweri Museveni everybody to maintain peace and not to threaten wanainchi with chaos.
"I hear talk that some people want to cause chaos. Those plans will not succeed. Anyone planning mischief will fail. No one should threaten Ugandans with chaos," Mr Museveni said.
After the recent riots, Mr Museveni reiterated his message, telling those planning for chaos that it is a miscalculation for them to attempt chaos in a country led by the original National Resistance Army.
"It was definitely a miscalculation for the schemers to imagine that they can use such anti-people techniques in a country led by the original National Resistance Army. Make that miscalculation, you do so at your own risk, I can assure you of that---whoever you are," Mr Museveni noted.
By anti-people techniques Mr Museveni was refering to attacks on innocent Ugandans, looting of people property, burning roads and interfering with people's movements by blocking trafic flow among others.
