The newly-appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Uganda Susan Namondo Ngongi presented her letters of credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gen. Jeje Odongo, officials said Friday.
Susan Namondo, who was appointed to the position late last month, replaced Rosa Malango who had been here since March 2016.
Before the assignment, she was the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Eritrea (2017- 2021).
Susan Namondo has over 25 years of experience in development work, including 19 years of leading development professionals in the areas of policy formulation and programme planning across four different United Nations agencies at the national, regional and headquarters levels.
Other roles in the UN include UNICEF Representative in Ghana (2013-2017), UNICEF Representative in Comoros (2010-2013) and Deputy Representative in Liberia (2008-2010).
She holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and in animal science from the University of Maryland, USA as well as master’s degrees in public administration from Columbia University, USA and in animal health from the University of Reading, UK.
Her experience in East Africa has been working as Emergency Project Officer with UNICEF in Nairobi, Kenya.
Prior to joining the United Nations, Susan Ngongi Namondo worked with the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI), an international scientific organization, and global non-profits including Caritas Internationalis and Catholic Relief Services.
