President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has delivered the 2025 State of the Nation Address, fulfilling his constitutional obligation under Article 101(1) of the Constitution of Uganda.
Speaking at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Thursday 5th June 2025, Museveni outlined the government's achievements and priorities for the coming year, with a focus on economic transformation, industrial growth, and national security.
“This address is in fulfilment of the constitutional requirement and serves as an update on our progress and the direction we are taking as a country,” Museveni stated.
The President emphasized the gains made through mass-oriented programs such as Operation Wealth Creation, the Parish Development Model, and Emyooga, which aim to boost household incomes and reduce poverty.
He cited improvements in education, health, and infrastructure as central to Uganda’s development agenda. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing peace and stability, which he described as the foundation for all socio-economic progress.
Museveni noted that the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV), launched earlier the same day, would guide government planning for the next five years. The plan targets industrialization, youth skilling, private sector growth, and full economic monetization.
“Our focus is on building a self-sustaining economy rooted in local production and value addition,” he said.
The President pointed to rising life expectancy, increased literacy, and a reduction in subsistence farming as evidence of Uganda’s steady progress.
In closing, Museveni urged unity and continued dedication to national goals. “We must remain focused and disciplined as we drive towards our Vision 2040 of a modern, prosperous Uganda,” he said.
