Uganda will commemorate this year’s International Youth Day on September 19, 2025, in Masindi District, State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, has announced.

Speaking at a press briefing, Hon. Barugahara said the celebrations will run under the theme “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation through Technology and Partnerships.” He explained that the theme underscores the critical role of young Ugandans in driving the nation’s transformation agenda through innovation, digital solutions, and partnerships.

“The theme directly aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and reflects our commitment to empowering youth to take the lead in shaping the country’s future,” he said.

Hon. Barugahara highlighted that the Government of Uganda allocated UGX 58.34 trillion in the 2024/25 financial year to support national development, with major investments in youth-focused programmes including ICT, education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

He urged stakeholders to join in celebrating the contributions of Uganda’s youth and to recommit to empowering them.
“Together, let us recognize the potential of our youth, celebrate their achievements, and recommit to walking alongside them in shaping the Uganda we all desire,” Hon. Barugahara said.

The event is expected to attract policymakers, youth leaders, development partners, and innovators from across the country to showcase progress in youth-led initiatives.
