The Police is warning against impersonation and forgery in the ongoing recruitment exercise. The police targets to recruit a total of 5000 officers, including 4500 Probational Police Constables and 500 Learner Assistant Inspectors of Police. The recruitment exercise started last week.

Addressing a weekly press briefing at police headquarters Naguru on Monday, Deputy Police Spokesperson Polly Namaye warned that those found with forged documents or impersonating, will be arrested and prosecuted. According to Namaye eligible candidates should be aged 18 to 25 years and must possess a UCE Certificate with at least 5 credits, including in Math and English, for Probational Constables.

For Learner AIP, applicants must possess diplomas in relevant science fields such as Clinical Medicine and Community Health, Environmental Health Science, Public Health Dentistry, Orthopedic Clinical Medicine, Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering, among others.

“Applicants must be Ugandan citizens of good conduct, physically fit, good communicators and should be ready to undertake basic training of 12months,” Namaye said. “The application process has already kicked off and clear handwritten application letters, passport photos and other photocopies of other useful documents should be delivered by the individual applicant to the recruiting team at the respective recruitment centers as per the schedule. It is important to note that impersonation and presentation of forged documents will result into arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators,” she warned.
