The Enabel in Uganda has signed a €280,000 grant agreement with the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) aimed at addressing youth unemployment in the Kampala Metropolitan area.
The partnership, implemented under the #WeWorkUG initiative, is funded by the European Union and the Government of Belgium, and seeks to bridge the gap between skills training and labour market demands.
Officials said the programme will equip 1,000 young people with work-readiness skills, including practical training aligned to private sector needs.
At least 200 of the beneficiaries are expected to secure employment opportunities within the private sector upon completion of the programme.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen workforce competitiveness and improve youth livelihoods in Kampala, where unemployment remains a key challenge.
Stakeholders say aligning skills development with market needs is critical to ensuring sustainable employment and economic growth.
