Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa led thousands of athletes and well-wishers at the Kololo Independence Grounds today to mark the 52nd birthday of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba through a national charity run.
Thomas Tayebwa was the Chief Runner to represent Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba at the event. The celebration transitioned from a private birthday party into a massive public movement focused on patriotism. Organizers sold participation kits at UGX 20,000 to raise funds for underprivileged orphans and street children.
In the speech delivered on his behalf, Gen. Muhoozi reflected on the journey of this event from a private celebration to a national movement. He shared how encouragement from leaders like Frank Tumwebaze, Daudi Kabanda, Lillian Aber, and Andrew Mwenda convinced him to open this milestone to the public.

This transformation created a dedicated platform for unity, patriotism, and selfless service.
The General expressed deep gratitude to the large numbers of Ugandans who demonstrated a strong collective spirit by attending. He clarified that the run is about standing with underprivileged children. The event specifically targets children who lack basic necessities like food, shelter, and education.

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba expressed gratitude to the Patriotic League of Uganda for their leadership. He also thanked security agencies, medical volunteers, and corporate partners for ensuring the event succeeded. Political and religious leaders received commendation for mobilizing their respective communities.
The General also paid special tribute to his parents, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Janet Museveni. He thanked his wife, children, and siblings for their unwavering support throughout his upbringing.
Thomas Tayebwa described the run as a monumental effort to uplift those in need. He noted that the funds raised will have a lasting impact on vulnerable communities. The event was held under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope.”
