Kayihura, Jim Muhwezi Assigned Patriotic Officer Numbers

PLU has assigned Patriotic Officer Numbers to 14 members, including Kale Kayihura and Jim Muhwezi, while also making new appointments to its External Affairs department.

Former Inspector General of Police Gen (Rtd) Kale Kayihura and Security Minister Maj Gen (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi have been assigned Patriotic Officer Numbers by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), as the organisation continues to expand its ranks.

The appointments were announced in a statement dated July 5, 2026 and signed by PLU General Secretary, Twalla Fadil, who said the assignments were made by the PLU  chairman and Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

According to the statement, Maj Gen (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi received Patriotic Officer Number 71, while Gen (Rtd) Kale Kayihura was assigned Number 73.

The list also includes Minister Margaret Muhanga Mugisa, who received Number 72, MP Stephen Kangwagye, who received Number 74, Minister Sanjay Tanna, who received Number 75, and Senior Counsel Dr Hussein Kashillingi, who was assigned Number 76.  

Others on the list are MP Godfrey Aine Kaguta, commonly known as Sodo, at Number 77, Ssemwanga Gyaviira at Number 78, Gabriel Okumu at Number 79, Counsel Pascal Natamba at Number 80, Dem Gaster Opondo at Number 81, Asaph Nahurira at Number 82, John Faith Magolo at Number 83 and William Agaba at Number 84.  

In a separate announcement, the PLU chairman also appointed Stephen Rutasharara as Commissioner for External Affairs and Counsel Ronny Kananura as Deputy Commissioner for External Affairs.
