President Yoweri Museveni has stressed Uganda’s commitment to ensuring that resolutions of the Quadripartite Summit in Angola are well implemented.

Museveni made the commitment during the third Quadripartite Summit in Luanda, the Angola Capital on Sunday. Museveni departed for Angola on Sunday morning. The Summit meant to end bickering between Uganda and Rwanda, is being co-hosted by President Joao Lourenco of Angola and Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In attendance also is Rwanda President Paul Kagame.

“I thank President Joao Lourenco for hosting the summit. Uganda will do its part to ensure resolutions of the summit are implemented,” President Museveni said. The 3rd Quadripartite Summit is a follow up on the implementation of the Luanda Agreements signed between Uganda and neighbouring Rwanda in the Angolan Capital on August 21, 2019.

The Agreements signed by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his Rwandan Counterpart, Paul Kagame aim at ending the tensions between Uganda and Rwanda. The once close allies had their relations turn deeply hostile in a dispute that culminated into closure of the Rwanda-Uganda border at Katuna.

Rwanda’s decision to close the border at the end of February 2019, has also affected trade between the two neighbours.
