The Ugandan High Commission in Kenya has today hosted an activation ahead of the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon.

The event, held at Radix Hotel Grounds, Karen in Nairobi, saw over 500 people participate in a 20km run. The event was flagged off by Uganda’s High Commissioner to Kenya Ambassador Eunice Kigenyi.

The main event will be held on August 23 in Kasese district, and these pre-main event activations aim to promote the marathon, which is expected to generate foreign exchange through tourism and hospitality.

Tourism investor Amos Wekesa, one of the event organisers, said 525 Kenyans have registered already.

“If each spends USD 1,000 in Uganda on accommodation, transport, food, and entertainment, we make USD 525k,” he posted on X.

The Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon will this year be held for the fourth edition.
