The Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, on Friday launched the newly upgraded Karibuni Business Lounge at Entebbe International Airport. It is aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and elevate the airport’s global standing.

The redesigned lounge now features expanded amenities tailored to meet the needs of diverse travelers. New additions include baby changing rooms, an infant playroom, a designated smoking area, a prayer room, a relaxation zone, conference room, three massage chairs, and high-speed Wi-Fi, all integrated into a tranquil and spacious environment. The seating capacity has also nearly doubled, from 160 to 300 passengers.

Speaking at the launch, Gen. Katumba Wamala praised the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) and Karibuni Lounge management for listening to traveler feedback and improving the lounge experience.

“It is always important to understand and identify the needs of travelers and aim to surpass their expectations,” the Minister said. “The upgraded lounge is not just about appearance—it reflects Uganda’s readiness to meet the demands of modern international travelers and strengthen Entebbe’s position as a regional hub.”

In his remarks, UCAA Director General Fred K. Bamwesigye said the revamped lounge aligns with the authority’s broader mission to ensure seamless service and a welcoming environment for all visitors to Uganda.

“This refurbishment reflects our unwavering focus on improving the travel experience, promoting seamless service delivery, and upholding Uganda’s image as a warm and hospitable destination,” Bamwesigye said.

The upgraded Karibuni Lounge is expected to significantly enhance comfort for business and transit passengers and contribute to the airport’s reputation as a world-class gateway into Uganda and the East African region.
