The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has pledged to help Tororo residents demand better public services and access government programmes.
PLU Secretary General Fadil Twalla made the pledge after a community baraza in Tororo. He said the gathering promoted patriotism, unity, accountability and service.
Twalla said residents turned up in large numbers to receive a message from the PLU chairman and Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
He said the turnout showed that Tororo residents were ready to put Uganda first, demand better services and support PLU’s nationwide mobilisation.
“Your warm welcome and strong participation at the community baraza showed that Tororo is ready to put Uganda first, demand better service delivery, and stand with PLU as we mobilise the country,” Twalla wrote on X.
He said PLU would work with residents to connect them to government programmes and fight corruption. The organisation would also promote discipline and patriotism, he added.
Twalla thanked the local organising committee led by Mr Ochom and local leaders who supported the event. He also praised PLU secretariat staff for preparing the baraza.
Tororo Municipality MP Shyam Tanna also marked the end of the event with a brief post on X.
“Tumemaliza assignment ya Tororo,” Tanna wrote, meaning that the team had completed its Tororo assignment. He tagged Gen Kainerugaba in the post.
The Tororo gathering forms part of PLU’s community mobilisation drive. The organisation has used barazas to carry Gen Kainerugaba’s message to residents and hear concerns about service delivery.
