Bank of Uganda dismissed reports that its two properties, including the residence of its governor located at Plot 7-9 Elizabeth Avenue Kololo, Kampala City were on sale.
"Governor's House is not on sale," reads the title of the statement shared on Twitter Thursday morning.
"The Bank of Uganda (BoU) has learnt of the misinformation about the purported sale of the Governor's residence, that is circulating electronically among the public," reads the statement.
"This is to notify the public that BoU is not selling the residence of the Governor."
On Monday, February 20, the central bank published a bid notice, announcing the disposal of assets, that included Plot 7-9 Elizabeth Avenue Kololo Kampala and Plot 41 Kampala Road Masaka.
According to the statement, the asset that is being disposed of in Kololo is an empty plot of land and it's not the Governor's residence.
"BoU invited bidders to inspect these assets in the period February 22, 2023, to March 14, 2023," reads the statement.
