The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced that maintenance works on the Namugongo–Misindye–Seeta road in Mukono District will start on March 12, 2026.

In a public notice dated March 6, 2026, the ministry said the works on the six-kilometre road will last for a period not exceeding 12 months.

“The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to inform the general public that periodic maintenance works on the 6km Namugongo–Misindye–Seeta Road in Mukono District will kick off on Thursday, March 12, 2026, for a period not exceeding twelve months,” the statement reads.

The road connects Kireka, Kyaliwajjala, Ssonde, Misindye and Seeta to the Kampala–Jinja highway and supports both local and regional traffic.

The ministry said the road surface has deteriorated due to increased traffic, heavy loads and drainage challenges. This has reduced riding comfort and raised the risk of vehicle damage and safety concerns.

According to the ministry, the works will include reconstruction of damaged shoulders, laying of an asphalt concrete overlay on the carriageway and shoulders, improvement of drainage systems, installation of road furniture, and new road markings and signage.

Authorities will also introduce traffic management measures to ensure safe movement during the construction period.

The ministry warned that traffic may be temporarily diverted or interrupted during the works. Motorists have been advised to follow traffic instructions and use designated diversion routes, including Bajjjo, Namutwe and Bukeerere roads.

The notice was signed by the Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Bageya Waiswa.
