The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division has graduated 33 soldiers after a six-month intensive course in Communication, Information Technology, and Signals (CITS) at the Division Headquarters in Gulu.

Brigadier General Jackson Kayanja, the Division’s Deputy Commander, presided over the ceremony on behalf of the Division Commander. He congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold discipline as a pillar of military professionalism.

“You have just started your communication journey. You must remain loyal and ensure there is no information leakage through the establishment of Security, Accuracy, and Discipline,” Brig Gen Kayanja said.

He emphasized that UPDF’s reputation as a strong people’s force, both at home and abroad, depends on continuous training and professionalism.

Lieutenant Colonel Heavenfall Apollo, Land Force Director of CITS, who represented the Joint Staff CITS Col Simon Mwebaza, praised the graduates for their commitment.

“Signal officers always receive information before leaders. It is therefore important to protect the destination of information to safeguard the security of our forces,” Lt Col Apollo said.

Captain Marion Alum, Commanding Officer of the 4 CITS Squadron, explained that the training was designed to produce skilled personnel capable of improving communication efficiency and service delivery across UPDF formations.

The graduation was attended by senior Division officers, staff, family members od the graduates, and well-wishers who celebrated the soldiers’ achievement.
