President Museveni has directed Busoga Boda Boda riders to use their daily interactions with passengers to promote government wealth programs, as State House acts to clear pending financial pledges after AFCON budget cycles.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has challenged motorcycle taxi operators in the Busoga sub-region to transform their daily transport business into frontline coordination hubs for government wealth creation programs.

The Head of State commended the transit operators for maintaining regional stability and systematically organizing their leadership structures to drive socio-economic transformation.

The Special Presidential Assistant for Press and Mobilization, Alhaji Faruk Kirunda, delivered the executive directive today during a high-level strategic alignment meeting with Busoga Boda Boda chairpersons at his administrative office in Nakasero.

“Thank you for supporting the NRM and promoting our programs in your area,” President Museveni stated in his message.

The President urged the riders to actively utilize their continuous, direct contact with the public to spread financial literacy and encourage the adoption of state development initiatives.

“Continue being coordinators of government poverty alleviation programs in Busoga and always engage your passengers on these programs so that they can embrace them to uplift their livelihoods,” the President noted.

Alhaji Kirunda directly addressed pending financial commitments, assuring the transport operators that the state remains fully committed to honoring all past presidential pledges. He explained that current national treasury disbursements are heavily prioritized toward accelerating infrastructure preparations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament and funding salary increments for primary and secondary arts teachers.

He also issued a strict administrative clarification regarding state micro-finance disbursements to clear up rising local anxieties.

“When that money comes, we shall inform you. Whatever is being said that some money was allocated to your SACCOs is a total lie,” Alhaji Kirunda clarified.

State House representative Maj. Emma Kuteesa confirmed that independent security and financial audits have successfully verified the legal existence of all registered transport Savings and Credit Co-operative Organizations (SACCOs) across the sub-region. He issued a stern legal warning against asset diversion, citing massive mismanagement scandals in the capital city.

“In Kampala, some boda boda SACCOs diverted the funds and bought drone cars. Many members didn’t benefit. All the culprits will face the long arm of the law,” Maj. Kuteesa warned.

The Chairperson of the Busoga Parliamentary Caucus, Hon. Stephen Kisa, pledged that regional lawmakers will spearhead aggressive mindset-change campaigns across their respective constituencies to ensure that the incoming state funds generate maximum household income.

The Chairperson of Boda Boda riders in Busoga, Mr. Eria Simon Musobya, expressed deep institutional gratitude to the executive, recalling a historic milestone when the Head of State personally attended their regional transport solidarity rally on January 25, 2025.

“We thank His Excellency for his immense support to us. We are really grateful,” Mr. Musobya stated.
